Gender Equality in project implementation

During 2025-2026 Interreg Aurora has had an extra focus on the Gender Equality aspect of project implementation. We have asked our funded projects to highlight their actions and good examples in their progress reports. We would like to thank all projects that have contributed so far. Please keep on sharing your good examples with us so that others can get inspired!

Did you know that Interreg Aurora funded projects report that they:

  • Have a clear anti-harassment code.
  • Design the activities with inclusivity in mind.
  • Work actively with representation in images and text.
  • Apply inclusive practices when selecting seminar speakers.
  • Promote gender balance in forming of Steering groups and reference groups.
  • Monitor participation, access to training and uptake of tools with gender-disaggregated data.
  • Schedule meetings and events neither too early nor too late, so that even parents of young children could attend.

Among other things, this is what our funded projects highlight when reporting about their Gender Equality work in the last round of progress reports. Keep up the good work!

The Interreg Aurora funded project NITWAP – Neighbours in Times of War and Peace use their own checklist regarding Gender Equality in project implementation. The checklist was made during an earlier Interreg project:

Checklist for activities/products:

  • Do we address both women and men?
  • Do we show pictures of both women and men?
  • Does the text describe both women and men?
  • Who are active and who are passive in the pictures?
  • What is the ratio between women and men among the project partner participants?
  • Do we tell the history of both women and men?

After the activity/product:

  • How many women and men participated in the activity?
  • How did we live up to our gender equality goals?
  • What can we do better?

The NITWAP project took part of our webinar on Sustainable project management in May 2026 and told about the checklist and their experiences.
