Join the online Swedish language cafés to practice speaking Swedish in a relaxed atmosphere! The six-session language café series will take place on Fridays starting on 13 March 2026, from 14:00 to 15:00.

Opportunity to earn study credits and network
By participating in six language cafés, writing a learning diary and feedback, you can earn 1 ECTS credit for the Oamk course YY00ED99-3002 Language and Culture Project. The course is also available nationally through Opin.fi, meaning that anyone in Finland can take it. By participating in all the 2026 language cafés, you can earn up to 3 ECTS credits as optional studies.
Participants also join from Sweden and Norway, making this an excellent opportunity to practise Swedish and make new connections. No advance registration required.

The language cafés are organised by the Interreg Aurora -funded Roots and Future project. Project partners are Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Sverigefinska folkhögskolan in Haparanda (Sweden) and Kvensk språkcenter in Alta (Norway). Oulu University of Applied Sciences is responsible for organising the Bara prata svenska language cafés.
The Bara prata svenska online language cafés organised by the Roots and Future project, as well as the autumn 2026 online cafés covering the minority languages of the Barents region, are part of the Oulu2026 cultural programme and the cultural climate change movement.
