Many smaller manufacturing companies lack the resources and expertise to implement AI solutions, which risks widening the gap between early adopters and those who fall behind. The Interreg Aurora funded project NextIndustriAI develops practical methods and general reference solutions that demonstrate how AI can be used to optimise production, improve data utilisation, and support collaboration between humans and AI in automated processes. By addressing the needs of management, engineers, and factory workers, the project will make AI understandable, accessible and relevant at all organisational levels. By joining forces across borders, the project builds shared frameworks and practical methods to overcome these challenges. The result will be secure, ethical, and sustainable adoption of AI in industrial automation, strengthening both competitiveness and resilience across the target area.
The project is based on cross-border collaboration between universities and companies in Finland, Sweden, and Norway to ensure relevance and benefits throughout the region. The results are disseminated through open material, case studies, and networks that support continued digital transformation even after the project has ended.
