Arctic 6G Final Webinar showcased results

The recording of the webinar is now published on ARCTIC 6G: EXPLORING FUTURE 6G OPPORTUNITIES– Final results and lessons learned.

Researchers from Luleå University of Technology, University of Oulu, and Lapland University of Applied Sciences presented the final outcomes of the Interreg Aurora-funded Arctic 6G project during the webinar “Exploring Future 6G Opportunities – Final Results and Lessons Learned” in Oulu, 21 October 2025.

“Arctic 6G has shown that the North can lead in connectivity innovation,” said Michael Nilsson, coordinator at LTU. “The lessons from our testbeds and collaboration with the Oulu, Rovaniemi and Tornio teams will shape future 6G development.”

The project, running from 2022 to 2025, explored how next-generation networks can deliver resilient, inclusive connectivity for Arctic regions. Highlights of the webinar include new survey data on rural broadband gaps, Zero Trust cybersecurity frameworks, using wind-turbine towers as potential 6G base stations, and LEO satellite integration to reach remote communities.
