On 16 September 2025, village residents and workers from the Abisko National Park area came together to share their thoughts on local climate change. Participants explored climate risks and impacts, then brainstormed adaptation strategies — a process described as both insightful and rewarding. The workshop concluded with a climate walk, where visible changes were identified: a rising tree line on Njullá mountain, increased moth outbreaks damaging mountain birch, and thawing permafrost. For park management, insights from the workshop will help shape a future climate-informed management plan.
The event was hosted by The Country Administrative Board of Norrbotten, who is lead partner of CLAP, a EU project co-financed by Interreg Aurora. The event was also supported by the EU Mission on Climate Adaptation who support citizen events on climate adaptation within EU through the Mission Implementation Platform (MIP4Adapt). This support meant that the citizen event planning was assisted by free consultation of Tyrsky Communication.
