Exploring Meänkieli and Finland Swedish Culture in the Roots and Future Webinar Series 12 December 2025 12:00–13:00 (Sweden and Norway time) – Cancelled

The Roots and Future project’s webinar series continues, and the upcoming sessions will introduce Meänkieli and Finland-Swedish culture. Join us to learn about the minority languages and cultures of the Barents region!

Note! The webinar on December 12th has been cancelled (webinar on Finnish-Swedish culture). The speaker for the webinar has fallen ill and the planned webinar will have to be postponed, but the webinar on December 16th about Meänkieli is scheduled to be held as normal.

The webinar is organized by Oulu University of Applied Sciences.
After the webinar, a “Bara prata svenska” language café will be held in the same online environment, offering a relaxed atmosphere to practice Swedish.

The webinar is organized by the Kven Language Centre in Alta together with the Halti Kven Centre from Norway.

The webinars are part of the Roots and Future project, funded by Interreg Aurora. Project partners are Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Sverigefinska folkhögskolan (Sweden), and Alta Municipality’s Kven Language Center (Norway).
