X Border Support4Games

The games industry is a fast growing, creativity, and digital based industry that has many success stories both in Finland and Sweden. Some companies have accumulated a lot of experience in company development, leadership and have large international networks. Yet many companies lack this well-needed expertise, especially in rural areas.

The main objective of the Interreg Aurora funded project X Border Support4Games (Support structure for Game Startups in the Arctic) is to bolster the competitiveness and innovation of small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) working in the games industry in Österbotten and Västerbotten regions. This means supporting and further developing the enterprises innovation processes and business capabilities. By providing knowledge and tools for the SMEs, the project can help create welcome competition in the field, and in long-term, create diversity and more possibilities in the job market of the region.

The project also aspires to create foundation for a well-functioning and sustainable cross-border game accelerator coordinated with EU-initiatives, innovation systems, municipalities, regions, and other key stakeholders. This would allow a long-term support system for the game industry SMEs, help create collaboration and find new markets.
