HIDDEN participated in the Baltic Sea Archipelagos Symposium in Turku 27-28 April, hosted by the Sakari Alhopuro Foundation in collaboration with Turku University and Åbo Akademi University.

The first Sakari Alhopuro Symposium invited researchers, policymakers, business leaders, and students to explore the future of the Baltic Sea Archipelagos and promote collaborative solutions for the environmental care of our shared sea. This closely relates to HIDDEN’s areas of interest where estuaries and archipelagos face the same challenges with climate change, eutrophication and loss of biodiversity.

“We got to promote our project, discuss the tasks at hand with experts from different fields, hear about the latest research and trajectories in our ocean and listen to how lawmakers look at the situation and our responsibilities” says Meri and Claes. They came away with more knowledge about their severe challenges, possible solutions, potential new projects and partnerships, as well as a wider network for collaboration.
