How can we help more students stay in the North?
University cities in the Northern Nordics face the dilemma of retaining eduacted youth in the region. These cities attract lots of young people to study, but many of the graduates tend to move south after graduating.
The Interreg Aurora funded project StayInNorth is looking for new cross-border collaboration possibilities to address this situation – how to encourage more students to stay, live and work in the the North?
The project’s goal is building a foundation to enhance the capacity of organizations to implement student-centered retention measures in northern university cities. Cross- border cooperation has huge opportunities in reducing the out-migration of educated young talent from the region.
Partners identify common challenges and opportunities, map key stakeholders related to student retention, share existing best practices, and brainstorm new cross-border cooperation ideas and projects to increase attractiveness and retention. The project also aims to develop networks between project partner cities and more broadly among other northern university cities in the Interreg Aurora programme area.
