Oummu rââst raaj – People cross the borders is a crossborder project between the municipalities of Inari, Finland and Sør-Varanger, Norway. The main goal of the project is to strengthen the Skolt Saami language and cultural environment across the Finnish-Norwegian border. This has been pursued, for example, by producing many new language materials for teaching purposes and for families to use, as well as arranging events, such as family camps, genealogy circles, and seminars.
🟢 The project period started in September 2024 and is now coming to its end. The concluding seminar of the project will be held on August 28th, 2026 at Äʹvv Skolt Sami Museum in Neiden, Norway. Invitations to the concluding seminar have been sent out to project partners, and a public registration will open in August.
