Building climate-resilient Arctic communitites

SMART Aurora

The Interreg Aurora funded project SMART Aurora strengthens the capacity of Finnish and Swedish Arctic municipalities to adapt to climate change. The project develops shared methodologies, digital tools, and practical solutions that help municipalities plan and manage energy, water, waste, heating, and other critical services in a more climate-resilient and integrated way.

Through climate risk assessments, municipal adaptation strategies, and demonstration pilots, SMART Aurora supports local authorities in building resilient, low-carbon communities. The project will also establish the Arctic Adaptation Network, ensuring long-term cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange. All project outputs will be made openly available to support wider adoption across the Aurora programme area and beyond.
